Anselm's Yellowstone NP Page

This Page is dedicated to one of the most beautiful if not the most beautiful National Parks in the US or maybe even the world. The most fascinating thing from my point of view is the geothermal activity in the Park shown in all four standard types of activities: Fumarols, Hot Springs, Mudpods and Geysers. This show is even enhanced in Winter time because of the cold weather around all the attractions.

I had the chance to be in Yellowstone at the beginning of 1998. I now finally found the time to scan in some of the good images and I am presenting them here. I made this trip with a friend of mine from university. We staid in Yellowstone for eleven days, split up in between the part around Mammoth Hot Springs, Lower Geyser Basin and the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone. During this time we saw a lot of geothermal activity and wildlife as well.

In Mammoth Hot Springs we concentrated on looking at the hot springs and we saw some animals (elks) as well. The time we spent there was quite good and we were very lucky having fantastic weather most of the time.

In the Lower Geyser Basin we saw mainly Geysers as can be expected. All of the main ones were active during our stay, Grand Geyser, Castle Geyser, Daisy Group, Riverside Geyser and not to forget of course Old Faithful. We were also particularly lucky in getting a glimpse at Giant Geyser one day and we also saw some of the other more or less common Geysers. Unlucky enough the weather wasn't very good except for the second last day where we got some very good weather for Castle Geyser. During our stay there we also could see a lot of Bison and some Elk bulls.

The Grand Canyon of Yellowstone with its spectacular Waterfall was very nice as well. We only did a day trip down to it. Lucky enough the weather was very nice to us and therefore we could see a lot of stuff there. This included Mud Volcanoes and the Norris Geyser Basin.

I will most likely expand a little bit on the text in the near future, but now I will just post some of my images here. Initially this will be done by region, but maybe I will refine all that in the near future.
